Terms of Service
Last updated: May 10, 2026
OpenTrip is a collaborative travel research tool. It helps you organize itineraries, compare options, explore destinations, and plan trips with others. These Terms of Service govern your use of the platform.
By accessing or using OpenTrip, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the service.
Agreement to These Terms
These terms apply to everyone who uses OpenTrip — whether browsing, planning, or collaborating. By creating an account or using any part of the service, you accept these terms in full.
If a trip is shared with you, your use of that trip is also governed by these terms.
What OpenTrip Is
OpenTrip is a research and planning tool. It lets you collect, compare, and organize travel information — flights, hotels, destinations, maps, videos, and notes — in shared trips.
Important: OpenTrip is not a travel agency, booking platform, or tour operator. It does not process reservations or payments. Any booking links lead to third-party services with their own policies and terms.
Your Account
You can sign in with a Google account or an email and password. You're responsible for keeping your credentials secure and for all activity under your account.
Please provide accurate contact information and keep it current. If you believe your account has been compromised, contact us immediately.
Trips and Collaboration
Travel research in OpenTrip is organized into trips. Each trip can include itineraries, saved flights, hotel comparisons, notes, and destination details.
You can invite collaborators to any trip you own. When you do, the content inside that trip becomes visible to them based on the permissions you choose (view or edit).
Keep the following in mind:
- Collaborators can see all content within a shared trip.
- Anyone with edit access can modify or remove content.
- Removing a collaborator revokes their access going forward, but does not undo any actions they took while they had access.
- You are responsible for deciding who to invite and what level of access to grant.
Your Content
You own the content you create — notes, trip plans, comments, and research. Always.
When you add content to a shared trip, you grant other collaborators permission to view and interact with it within that trip. You remain the owner of your content.
You are responsible for making sure your content does not violate any applicable law or the rights of others.
AI-Generated Research
OpenTrip uses AI to assist with travel research — generating summaries, suggestions, and comparisons. This content is informational, not definitive.
AI can be wrong. Travel conditions change rapidly. Prices shift, schedules adjust, venues close, visa rules evolve. Always verify details — schedules, costs, availability, entry requirements, and safety conditions — with official and primary sources before booking or traveling.
OpenTrip assists your research. It does not make decisions for you, and it is not responsible for decisions you make based on AI-generated content.
Third-Party Services and Links
OpenTrip may surface links and information from external sources — airlines, hotels, booking platforms, map providers, video services, and others. These third-party services operate under their own terms, privacy policies, and pricing.
We do not control, endorse, or guarantee any third-party service. Your interactions with external providers are entirely between you and them.
Pricing and Booking Disclaimer
Any prices, availability, or travel details displayed in OpenTrip are for reference only. They may be outdated, cached, or otherwise inaccurate by the time you view them.
OpenTrip does not process bookings or payments. It does not guarantee pricing accuracy, seat availability, or reservation confirmation through any third-party service.
Acceptable Use
Use OpenTrip honestly and respectfully. Specifically:
- Don't violate any laws or regulations.
- Don't infringe on anyone's rights, privacy, or intellectual property.
- Don't upload malicious code, spam, or harmful content.
- Don't attempt to access another user's account or trip without permission.
- Don't interfere with the platform's operation or infrastructure.
We may remove content and restrict access for violations, at our discretion.
Suspension and Termination
We may suspend or terminate your access if these terms are violated, or for any other reason at our discretion. You may stop using OpenTrip at any time.
Upon termination, your right to access trips and content will end, subject to any applicable data retention requirements.
Disclaimer and Limitation of Liability
OpenTrip is provided as-is, without warranties of any kind. We do not guarantee that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or meet your specific needs.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, OpenTrip and its team will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the service — including but not limited to losses resulting from inaccurate travel information, AI-generated content, third-party service failures, or service interruptions.
Updates to These Terms
We may revise these terms from time to time. When material changes are made, we'll let you know through the platform or by email. Continued use of OpenTrip after changes take effect means you accept the updated terms.
